The final installment of our butterfly adventures took us out and about, here are some of the things we did.
The Big butterfly count; using a spotter sheet downloaded from butterfly conservation
Visiting a butterfly house; our local zoo has a brilliant butterfly house where you can see lots of different chrysalides and walk among the butterflies.
Meadow sweep and identification; we borrowed materials from our local nature reserve and used some identification keys from home to find out what minibeasts live in a meadow.
And when we had found all there was to be found we made some new species of butterfly with card, double-sided tape and tiny pieces of colour found at our local nature reserve.
I hope you have enjoyed reading about our summer of butterfly fun. Sitting inside, listening to the wind and the rain, it seems those days are behind us, it is now time for layering up, swapping the sandals for wellies and heading out for some autumnal adventures, bring it on!
