Why I love ‘The Vow’

Anyone that knows me will know that I don’t do sad films. I watch films to escape real life, I want something not too challenging where no one dies, is violently hurt or vomits.  I want a love story, a predictable happy ending, the sort of film that leaves you feeling warm and fuzzy like ‘Sleepless in Seattle’, ‘You’ve Got Mail’ and ‘When Harry Met Sally’ (this may also signal a Meg Ryan obsession?).  But the best ones are based on true stories, the true stories that don’t end with someone cutting off their own arm, being eaten by sharks or the sinking of a massive ship in freezing water, the ones that give you hope and rebuild your faith in real life.  I recently watched a favourite based on true events, ‘The Vow’, if you haven’t seen it or you need a little lift you must watch it!

  1. Every so often I have to bite the bullet and indulge my wife’s choice of film for movie night. These little excursions into the wilderness of ‘rom-com’ mainstream cinema occasionally offer up a hidden gem, The Vow was one such occasion!
